Unknown people in Kasichila Village in Nakonde District of Muchinga Province have allegedly stabbed a 79-year- old woman for unknown reasons.
Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) reports that Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka confirmed the incident in an interview.
Mr Daka said Roster Nampito was on Friday found dead lying in a pool of blood along a foot path leading to her maize field.
The Police Commissioner said Nampito was stabbed at the back of her head using a sharp instrument and sustained a deep cut.
However, some of the local people told ZANIS that Nampito could have been stabbed on suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
Police have since instituted investigations into the matter.
