THE Ndola Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 32-year-old man of Chipulukusu township in Ndola to six months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing four lady’s trousers from a line.
Magistrate Eston Kafunyi last Friday convicted Davies Chileshe of an unknown address but in Chipulukusu township after he pleaded guilty to theft.
Chileshe told the court during plea that he stole the pair of trousers for personal use.
“On your own admission of the offence, I find you guilty as charged and I hereby convict you accordingly. I note that you are a first offender who readily pleaded guilty to the charge. It is unfortunate thefts have become an order of the day here in Ndola.

“I will therefore put you out of circulation for a period of six months to enable you reflect on your actions hoping you will come out of prison a reformed person,” Mr Kafunyi said.
On March 1, this year, in Ndola, Chileshe allegedly stole Shelly Mutambala’s four pairs of trousers valued at K600, which were on the line.
Facts before court were that on the material day, Mutambala left her clothes drying on the line in her premises.
The court heard that later, Mutambala saw a man escaping from her premises with the clothes.
Mutambala pursued the convict and apprehended him with the help of neighbours.
He was then taken to Ndola central police where he admitted having stolen the pairs of trousers, facts read in brief.
