Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company has engaged China Gansu Company to work on the water reticulation project in Nakonde district in Muchinga project at a cost of K29million.

The revelations came during a signing ceremony held at the Chambeshi
Provincial offices in Kasama yesterday.

Board Chairperson Francis Makesa directed the new contractor to quickly
move on site and ensure that works on the project begins as soon as possible.

Mr. Makesa who is also Nakonde District Council Secretary said residents in the area were still facing a huge challenge in accessing
water in their households.

He noted that selection of a Chinese contractor to move on site will enable the local people to have access to clean and safe drinking water.

And Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company Acting Managing Director Willard Mutoka said the firm is happy that a new contractor has been
picked to finally carry out the water project in the district.

He said the project had stalled since January 2014 as the contractor, Shaftex Company who was contrcted earlier had their contract terminated due to
alleged shoddy works.

Mr. Mutoka explained that the scope of works will include the completion of a new water dam, connection of water pipes in the
townships among other works.

Meanwhile, China Gansu Company Engineer Justine Hu has assured government and the people of Nakonde that the water project will be
completed by March, next year.
