Zambians want a permanent commission that will continuously look at reforming the justice system sector in the country, Chairperson of the Legal and Justice Sector Reform Commission has disclosed.

Justice Frederick Chomba said Zambians have realised the need to have a continuous process of reviewing legislation in order to meet their aspirations.

And Central Province Minister Davies Chisopa has said it was imperative that citizens submit proposals towards reforming the legal and justice system in the country in order to guarantee fair and just dispensation of justice.

Mr. Chisopa said the general citizenry must take advantage of the Legal and Justice Sector Reform Commission which is sitting in the province and make relevant submissions on what kind of laws the country must have to enhance governance.

He said this when he flagged off the public sittings of the legal and justice sector reforms in Kabwe.

The Minister has since urged Kabwe residents to turn up in large numbers and seize the opportunity to change laws that affect their everyday lives.

And Justice Chomba said his commission was overwhelmed with submissions from the general public in Eastern, Lusaka, Southern and Western provinces.

Justice Chomba said his commission will soon explore possibilities of holding public sittings simultaneously in two districts in order to speed up the collection of public views and widen coverage.

The commission was set up by late President Michael Sata to make a comprehensive inquiry into the legal and justice system in the country.
