Church condemns people wishing President Lungu

Nakonde, March 16 ZANIS—–The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) in Nakonde District of Muchinga Province has condemned people trivialising and dramatising the illness of the Republican President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

UCZ Nakonde Central Congregation Reverend, Feston Chulu, said it is wrong and inhuman for some people to celebrate the sickness of the Republican President.

Speaking in Nakonde yesterday during the Boys’ Brigade enrolment and rededication service held at UCZ   Nakonde Central Congregation, Rev Chulu said President Lungu is a human being like any other person who also can fall sick at any time.

Rev Lungu called on Christians and all peace-loving Zambians to pray for President Lungu so that he can get back to duty and serve the Zambian people who voted for him.

He said he is optimistic that the President will get better soon and go back to his office, adding that all those wishing ill the President should feel ashamed of themselves as such acts are not only uncalled for but also acts of the devil.

Speaking at the same function, Muchinga Deputy Permanent Secretary, Devy Chanda, said it was wrong to politicise the sickness of President Lungu.

Mr Chanda also thanked the congregation for finding time to pray for the republican President, adding that President Lungu will soon get back to office because of the prayers Zambian people have been praying from the time he got sick.

Mr Chanda also said the Government will always consider the Church as a partner in taking development to the people.

He also called on the Boys Brigade to always follow the Biblical teachings if they are to overcome the challenges they face.

Over 100 boys took part in the colourful the Boys’ Brigade enrolment and rededication service that also saw seven boys being discharged from warrant to staff officers.
