Africa’s economy can grow stronger-Finnish envoy

Finnish Ambassador to Zambia Tosh Olkkonem says Africa can growth her economy through closer regional cooperation and integration.

 

Mr. Olkkonem said the economic growth that is being seen in many African countries will provide opportunities to local, regional, continental and international trade.

 

He has since pledged his country’s cooperation to Zambia and to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).

The Ambassador said this when he presented his credentials to COMESA Secretary General Sindiso Ngwenya as Finland’s Special representative to COMESA.

 

Mr. Olkkonem thanked the COMESA Secretary General for receiving him and granting him the status of Finland’s Special Representative to COMESA.

 

And COMESA Secretary General Sindiso Ngwenya pledged to work closely with the ambassador in addressing the many challenges faced by the region in order to integrate the global economy and fight poverty through trade.

 

Meanwhile, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Zambia Sophy Kombe, Zimbabwean High Commissioner to Zambia Getrude Takawira and Ambassador of France to Zambia Emmanuel Cohet were also expected to present their credentials to Mr. Ngwenya later in the day.
