Lusaka, (Sunday, 8th February 2015) — His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia has had to excuse himself from the Women’s Day celebrations when he felt uncomfortable.

President Lungu delegated his authority to Minister of Gender, Professor Nkandu Luo to take charge of the remainder of the women’s day parade.

Later doctors detected high levels of fatigue. After a snap test in the holding room, traces of malaria were detected. Due to this illness, President Lungu was forced to leave Heroes Stadium earlier than planned.

The President is being treated for malaria and fatigue and has been advised to take some rest.

“I am feeling much better and I have been told I have high levels of fatigue and should take some rest. There is nothing to worry about,” President Lungu said.
