–Shiwang’andu District Commissioner (DC), Moses Katebe, has urged people in the district to take agriculture as a business and a  survival skill in order to help government curb the rampart reports of hunger in the district.

Mr Katebe said in a period of 18 months the district has received a number of hunger reports which mainly resulted from people not engaging themselves in serious farming.

He further urged the people of Shiwang`andu to work hard and engage themselves in diversified farming.

The DC said this in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Shiwang`andu today following a recent hunger
report from Chamusenga Ward.

Meanwhile, Chamusenga Ward Counscillor, Cacious Chiti, said hunger in the area was as a result of animal attacks from Mwakana Game Range
which contributed to reduced harvest for the previous farming season.

Mr Chiti said the affected areas among others include Chindoshi, Kabale, Pumomwefu and Chimbwese Villages bordering with the named game
range.

Mr Chiti appealed to government and other well-wishers to come to the aid of the villages affected by hunger in his ward.
