—-Samfya District Council has released K20, 000 from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the first phase of the construction of a shelter at Mwafuli Main Market.

Samfya District council Secretary, Harry Twenda, disclosed that the total amount needed for the completion of the market shelter is about K80,000 but the district council decided to start constructing the shelter using the K20, 000 from CDF as it waits for government to allocate more funds.

Mr Twenda said works commencement last week and that the shelter will be constructed in phases.

He has since called on traders to work together with the local contractor in order to achieve the desired mutual business benefits.

He urged the people of Samfya to guard the uncompleted shelter and desists from all acts of vandalism adding that the government is trying to do the best for the community.

And Gladys Mwape, a business woman, said the construction of the shelter will bring sanity to the market and alleviate the hardship the marketeers go through especially in the rainy season.
