an 60, dies in road traffic accident

–A 60-year-old man of Namasheshe area of Kaoma district in Western Province died on the spot after being hit by a Rosa mini-bus which lost control on the Mongu-Lusaka road.

 

 The old man was riding his bicycle when he was hit by the mini-bus registration number ALL 5314.

ZANIS reports that Western Province Commissioner of Police Standwell Lungu said the accident happened around 06:00hours on 25th February 2015 along the Mongu-Lusaka road.

 

Mr Lungu said the driver of the bus identified as Steven Banda aged 50 years of Kaoma District lost control and rammed into a cyclist also identified as Sailus Chakwanda of the same area who sustained a fatal injury.

Mr. Lungu said the driver has since been detained at Kaoma Police Station for causing death by dangerous driving and will appear in court soon.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased is lying in Kaoma district Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post mortem and burial.
