POLICE in Kapiri Mposhi have picked up a body of an unknown man suspected to have been mugged and murdered.
Central Province deputy commissioner of police Edwin Bwanga said in an interview yesterday that the police believe that the victim, who is aged between 20 and 30, was murdered on Sunday around 06:00 hours on Great North Road, opposite Zambia settlement.
“The body of an unknown male person was found with two cuts on the head and we suspect that he could be aged between 20 and 30,” Mr Bwanga said.
Preliminary police investigations at the crime scene indicate that the man was attacked and robbed before his assailants killed him.
Police found an empty travelling bag and a pair of shoes beside the body.
He said the police have launched a manhunt for the suspects while the body is in Kapiri Mposhi District Hospital mortuary.
