Rainbow Party President Wynter Kabimba has likened Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Chishimba Kambwili to Saddam Hussein’s wartime Information Minister Comical Ali.

Reacting to Mr Kambwili’s statement dismissing as baseless accusations that government is framing Director of Public Prosecutions Mutembo Nchito to cover up former President Rupiah Banda’s alleged criminality, Mr Kabimba says to pursue propaganda is not what it means to be Minister of Information.

Mr Kabimba has maintained his allegations that government is framing Mr Nchito in order to cover former President Rupiah Banda’s alleged criminality.

Mr Kabimba has challenged Mr Kambwili that there is a letter dated 12th February written by former President Rupiah Banda’s lawyers advising President Edgar Lungu to get rid of Mr Nchito as Director of Public Prosecutions.

He states that he is not saying that Mr Nchito may not be wrong, but that the route to remove him must legal.

Mr Kabimba says it is vindictiveness to approach a constitutional officer using what he has termed as kangaroo methods.

He says the law provides how the DPP is removed from office by setting up a tribunal.

And Mr Kabimba says Zambians will not have a new constitution before the 2016 general election.

He says a constitution cannot emerge from a polarized society and a group of polarized stakeholders.

Mr Kabimba says nobody should be excluded from the constitution making process, and that nobody should appear to be hijacking the process.

Mr Kabimba says government should go on the route of building consensus so that everyone is happy that the final product is one that engenders consensus, legitimacy and every Zambian identify themselves with.

He was speaking when he appeared on MUVI TV’s the Assignment.
