Muhabi Lungu’s planned meeting barred

Lusaka, February 14, 2015, ZANIS– Expelled Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) National Secretary Muhabi Lungu’s planned meeting which was scheduled for today has been stopped by the Zambia Police.

 

According to a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today by the MMD Media Team, Mr Lungu’s meeting has been described by the Police as illegal.

 

The MMD media team said the police have further sternly warned Mr. Lungu and his group that if the meeting went ahead it would be regarded as an unlawful assembly.

 

The police warning is said to have been issued in the presence of MMD National Secretary Mwansa Mbulakulima, National Treasurer Elizabeth Chitika-Mulobeka, National Youth Chairman Howard Kunda, and Party Spokesperson Raphael Nakacinda.

 

The Muhabi group included expelled National Chairman Kabinga Pande, Women’s Affairs chairperson Faustina Sinyangwe and deputy National Secretary Chembe Nyangu.
