Youths in Kaputa District have welcomed the appointment of Chipangali Member of Parliament, Vincent Mwale as Minister of Youths and Sports.

Kaputa District Youth Coordinating Chairperson, Gilbert Chipili said Mr. Mwale is an experienced MP who has served the country with distinction.

He explained that Mr. Mwale has worked in various committees of parliament including being the Chairperson for the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

He hoped that Mr. Mwale who is youthful will use his experience as an MP and in the various committees he has worked to advance the cause of the youths in the country.

Mr. Chipili said this in an interview with ZANIS in Kaputa today shortly after  President Edgar Lungu appointing his cabinet.

He has urged the Minister who is also from a rural constituency to work on decentralizing the Youth Empowerment Funds to ensure that more youths especially in rural areas access the funds for economic development.

Mr. Chipili notes that the Youth Empowerment Fund is the best vehicle for propelling economic development and job creation but its access has been limited to youths in urban areas.

He explained that decentralizing the funds will mean more youths being empowered thereby helping to create jobs for fellow youths.

His colleague  Alick Kaonga has  meanwhile asked the Ministry of Youths to employ youth coordinators in all the districts to carry out youths programmes in the district.

Mr. Kaonga noted that currently, there are only provincial youth coordinators but they cannot coordinate the entire provinces due to complicity of the works.

The youths have also welcomed the appointment of the full cabinet describing it as well balanced and inclusive.
