THE sick 16-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually abused by her 47-year-old biological father, is nursing herself at Lusaka’s University Teaching Hospital (UTH).
A check by the Daily Mail found that the girl had no one on her bedside.
Sources at UTH’s ward EO2 disclosed that the girl has been left alone but is sometimes assisted by nurses.
The girl, whose mother is deceased, is now depending on nurses for food and other necessities.
Her father was allegedly sexually abusing her while she was recuperating in hospital.
UTH spokesperson Mwenya Mulenga said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that her condition is stable.

“The girl in question is responding well to treatment. Her condition has tremendously improved from the time she got here,” he said.
“The girl is now able to talk and eat things she could not do on her own,” Mr Mulenga said.
Zambia National Women’s Lobby (ZNWL) board chairperson Beauty Katebe says it is shocking that a father can abuse his own daughter in such a manner.
Ms Katebe said in a statement yesterday that this alleged incident has left the ZNWL in a state of bewilderment.
She said the women’s movement is at a loss for words and can only imagine the sort of evil that resides in the hearts of men who are capable of harming a child who is already in pain.
“We call upon the law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate this case so that no stone is left unturned. We also call upon the judiciary to expeditiously dispense this case so as to deter others,” Ms Katebe said.
She said all kinds of abuse especially of sexual nature on children and women are unacceptable and should be punished by highest punitive measures permissible by law.
Ms Katebe also said sexual abuse affects the emotions and psychological well-being of children and women.
