ZANIS COPY; -4,000 Housing Units to be built in Kazungula district

————–Kazungula District Commissioner Pascalina Musokotwane has disclosed that the long awaited 4, 000 housing units is earmarked for construction in Kazungula next month.

 

Ms. Musokotwane said the housing project that has been dragging for over seven years now has received enough attention from the Patriotic Front government adding that next month, the construction of the long awaited houses shall commence.

 

She disclosed this yesterday shortly after the tour of the sites with some white investors where the housing units shall be built which will consist of low, medium and high cost houses.

 

Ms. Musokotwane commended the PF government for working very hard to ensure that the housing units initiative becomes a reality in the district.

 

She named the contractor of the housing units as Leedsfit Holdings Zambia Limited of Lusaka.

 

The Kazungula District Commissioner mentioned that there are a number of developmental projects earmarked for commencement this year citing the Kazungula Border Post Bridge along the Zambezi River which she said will also commence next month.

 

Ms. Musokotwane charged that the President Edgar Lungu will come for the ground breaking ceremony to signify the commencement of the construction process but could not disclose the date.

 

She said that the housing unit project shall create 1,000 jobs for the locals in the area.

 

Meanwhile, Mandia Ward Councilor Brighton Mwampole expressed hope that the incoming developmental projects in Kazungula will change the face of the district.

 

Mr. Mwampole mentioned that 10 houses which are part of the Kazungula Bridge construction are to be constructed for marine divers.

 

He disclosed that the council has already given land for the same project adding that the contractor is on site and had already mobilized the materials in readiness for the construction.
