President Edgar Lungu has said that he is confident the people he has sworn in are competent and credible people appointed on merit.

President Lungu said this in Lusaka today when he swore in Southern Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu, Zambia’s High Commissioner to Namibia Sylvia Chalikosa and Hibeene Mwiinga as Special Assistant to the President for Development and Economic Affairs.

President Lungu has urged his members to remain calm as he will announce his full cabinet when he returns from the African Union Summit in Ethiopia.

The Head of State stated that he will reappoint some former ministers and also appoint new ministers to help them achieve his vision of improving the welfare of Zambians.

President Lungu is scheduled to travel on Thursday January 29 and has appointed Vice President Inonge Wina to act as President while he is away.

He has since called on the nation to give Ms Wina support and encouragement that she needs to preside over the country while he is away.

President Lungu stressed that it is important that Zambian women give her support as many more women will soon be appointed to senior positions.
