Government says the construction
and rehabilitation of eight youth resource centres across the country is
progressing well.

Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development, Director of Youth Collins Mulonda said the construction and rehabilitation works  in Kalabo, Luanshya, Chama, Chililabombwe, Chama, Kafue, Mpongwe and Chongwe  are progressing well at different levels..

Mr Mulonda told ZANIS in an interview that the rehabilitation works are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Once completed, the expanded centres such as Chiyota in Chongwe are expected to operate as fully fledged facilities.

He said the construction of the Kafue Youth Resource Centre was
awarded to another contractor after the initial contractor’s contract was terminated for shoddy work.

And Mr. Mulonda has expressed optimism that many youths will be empowered with skills training to enable them contribute to national development.

Mr. Mulonda noted that many youths do not have access to tertiary
education hence the construction of the youth resource centres will
add value to the empowerment of unemployed youths across the
country.
