-Patriotic Front (PF) Presidential candidate, Edgar Lungu, has scooped Kaputa constituency after pouring 4479 votes.

This is after final results from Kapasha and Chonganya polling stations, where voting was conducted yesterday, were released this morning.

The results from Kapasha came via a chopper from the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to the result centre at Kaputa District
Council Chamber.

Returning Officer for Kaputa Constituency, Christopher Siasinyanga, declared Mr Lungu and the PF candidate as winner of the Kaputa Constituency at
09:35 hours.

The PF candidate was closely followed by United Party for National Development (UPND) leader, Hakainde Hichilema, who got 2300 votes.

Erick Chanda of the Fourth Revolution Party (4R) came in third position with 58 votes and was followed by Edith Nawakwi of the Forum
for Democracy and Development (FDD) with 46 votes.

Nevers Mumba of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) has received 36 votes, while Tilyenji Kaunda of the United National
Independence Party (UNIP) has gotten 32 votes and Godfrey Miyanda of Heritage Party got 30 votes.

Ludwig Sondashi of Forum for Democratic Alternative (FDA) has eleven votes and Peter Sinkamba of Green Party is last with six votes.

Meanwhile, political parties and observers have described the just-ended election in Kaputa Constituency as free, fair and peaceful.

PF Kaputa District Chairperson, Dickson Chomba, said he is happy that the PF has scooped Kaputa constituency and has promised to do even
better in 2016.

UPND District Secretary, Chilekwa Mpundu, said his party has accepted results and noted that they have made big inroads in the district.

Zambia National Women’s Lobby Kaputa Branch Vice Chairperson, Charity Lwamba, who observed the elections, said the polls were free and fair
but expressed dissatisfaction with the low voter turnout.

Ms Lwamba observed that there was too much apathy in this election and called on stakeholders to do more sensitizations next time to ensure that
more people participate in the process.

Kaputa has 24,434 registered voters but only 6,949 people voted while 109 ballots were rejected.
