UN Envoy Rogan calls for inclusion of the young in national issues

Lusaka, January 18th, 2015,  ZANIS–The United Nations resident coordinator Janet Rogan has called for the inclusion of young people in key national issues if the country is to achieve its developmental goals.

Ms Rogan says  Zambia has in her history recorded the largest population of young people in need of developmental gains that can help the country achieve its vision 2030.

She said with the standing 21 percent population of young people in the country, there is need for a sustained and strategic investment in young people.

Ms Rogan was speaking at the induction dinner for the Junior Chambers International (JCI).

And Ms Rogan said there is need to fully address key challenges facing young people such as access to health care, education and employment which she said are essential for them to realise their potential.

She however reaffirmed the UN commitment in Zambia of promoting effective coherence across economic, employment, education and social protection policies.
