HH campaigns in South, calls for ban and amnesty on Pangas

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has called on the Zambia Police Service to ban the sell of offensive weapons such as Pangas and Knifes until after the elections.

Mr. Hichilema says should declare an amnesty for everyone holding pangas and offensive weapons to surrender them to police to cleanse the country of weapons used for violence during election campaigns.

Mr Hichilema has also urged police to arrest anyone who will be found using pangas and weapons for violence during and after elections.

And Mr Hichilema has appealed to all UPND members to resist the temptation to retaliate even in the face of extreme provocation.HH Livingstone 1

Mr. Hichilema says UPND recognizes the need for all political parties to co-exist and will not take kindly to any member resorting to violence.

And Mr. Hichilema has committed himself to strengthening Zambia’s relations other countries on the African continent and beyond, if elected republican president.

Mr. Hichilema says bilateral and international relations are not just a matter of friendship and good manners but because they are economically beneficial to Zambia.

The UPND leader, in a statement to ZNBC News, says other countries should be viewed as business partners and ready markets for exports.

He says he will therefore endeavor to create an environment in which Zambian businesses can take full advantage of the opportunities in the region, if elected republican president next week.

Mr. Hichilema says Zambia must make itself heard beyond the region and beyond Africa.

And Mr Hichilema says he his encouraged by the overwhelming support and endorsements from a lot of people wishing him to win the presidency next Tuesday so that he can bring about a better Zambia.

Mr Hichilema was speaking when Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe called on him in Choma.

Mr. Hichilema has promised secure only the best projects for Zambia, and those that provide the country with additional revenues for spending on education and healthcare, create jobs and generate opportunities for Zambian businesses.

And speaking at a public rally in Choma, Mr Hichilema says his bid for public office is driven by his conviction to bring about credible and positive change in the individual lives of Zambians.

Mr. Hichilema however says he can only bring about this change if Zambians vote for him next week.

He has urged Zambians to utilize their vote to make change that will uplift their livelihood, by voting for him on Tuesday.
