Govt urges Police to be professional

uary, 8th, 2015, ZANIS —- Government has urged the Police service to be professional in their execution of duty ahead of the forthcoming Presidential by- elections on January 20th, 2015.

And Officer Commanding for Lusaka Rural, Senior Superintendent, James Muzyamba called on the police officers to desist from corrupt practices as these have a negative impact on their line of duty.

 


Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education, Patrick Ngoma says it was important that the Police service should continue been professional as they are carrying out their duties even during and after the by-elections.

ZANIS reports that Mr. Ngoma, who is also MP for Feira Constituency, urged the police officers to adhere to their police ethics especially now that the country was going for Presidential elections.

 

The minister said this call during the first ever Police officers end of year party held at Gerasmos Safari lodge in Luangwa District, yesterday.

 


He also commended them for been vigilant in combating crime in the District which borders two other countries Zimbabwe and Mozambique despite the challenges that they were facing.


Mr. Ngoma said government was aware of the challenges police officers were facing countrywide and it is working tirelessly to address these challenges such as staffing levels and accommodation.


He assured the police officers that a plot to put up modern housing units in Luangwa District has already been secured and surveyed and very soon construction works will commerce.


And speaking at the same function, Officer Commanding for Lusaka Rural, Senior Superintendent, James Muzyamba called on the police officers to desist from corrupt practices as these have a negative impact on their line of duty.


Senior Superintendent Muzyamba said the command will not tolerate any officer found in corrupt practices as such an officer will face the law.


He also urged the police officers not to indulge in partisan politics saying any officers who want to join politics should surrender the uniform and join partisan politics.
