Kafue DC warns civil servants against getting involved in politics

Kafue District Commissioner, Grace Ngulube has called on civil servants in the district to serve the communities instead of getting involved in politics.

 

Ms Ngulube said civil servants should resign if they want to participate in political issues.

 

The DC  said this when  some  Mtendere  residents in Kafue stormed  her office to issue a complaint over the slow pace of  the National  Registration Card (NRC) replacement  process  in the District.

 

Ms Ngulube   said those found wanting will face the wrath of the law.

 

She  has  since directed the district registrar  Moris  Kalimukwa to ensure that  people with required  documents  are  attended  to and  appointment dates should  not  be  after  19^th January to enable more people replace their   NRCs.

And  one  of  the  residents Rude Mwansa  accused the registration  officers  in the district  of violating their  right to vote.

 

She  added that  the  officers  gave  an appointment of  29th January  2015 which is after  elections a situation which will disadvantage her and other affected  people  from participating in January 20 elections.

 

Meanwhile, the district registrar has denied the allegations stating that some people were given appointments for NRC replacements after January 19, 2015. 

 

 Mr. Kalimukwa said the period for appointments  is meant to verify the  applicants status as most of them got their  initial registration cards from  various  places outside Kafue district.

 

He assured the DC that  his office  will work hard to ensure  that more people  replace their  NRCs  to enable them participate in the January 20 2015 elections.
