–Electorates in Shiwang`andu district have called on political party cadres to exercise their campaigns in a peaceful manner.

Speaking on behalf of other electorates, Loveness Nachilima urged party cadres not to disturb other political parties when they are holding campaign meetings in the district.

Ms Nachilima said all political parties have the right to hold rallies as long as they have a police permit.

She added that if some political parties are not holding rallies in fear of other party cadres, electorates will not be fully informed hence making them have difficulties in making informed decisions.

Ms Nachilima said this in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Shiwang`andu today following a fracas that transpired between United Party for National Development (UPND) and  Patriotic Front (PF) cadres on Friday.
However, Ms Nachilima said Shiwang`andu residents are very peaceful people, hence political parties should feel free to hold rallies in the district.

Ms Nachilima said people of Shiwang`andu want to vote for a political party that exercises maximum peace in their dealings.

On Friday a UPND rally which was to be officiated by former First Lady, Maurine Mwanawasa, failed in Shiwang`andu district after a disturbance by PF cadres.
