The Public Private Drivers Association of Zambia has called on motorists to take seriously the grace period given by the Road Transport And Safety Agency (R TSA).

The RTSA has extended the grace period for obtaining road tax and other motor vehicle licenses which expired on 31 December 2014 to January 31, 2015.

Association president Josiah Majuru said the one month grace period is enough time for motorist to get licenses and to put their houses in order.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr. Majuru appealed to motorists to utilize the time given in order to avoid being in conflict with motor vehicle legal requirements.

And Mr. Majuru has commended RTSA for extending the period for motorists to acquiring licenses such as road tax, road service licenses and identity certificates from December 31, 2014 till the end of January 2015.

He said such a move is always welcome in a civilized country where the  number of motorists has continued to increase.

RTSA Acting Director and Chief Executive Officer Gladwell Banda last week on Tuesday announced the extension for road license payments to accommodate the licensing needs of all motorists.

Mr. Banda said that the decision was also made upon realizing that motorist around the country were still in the process of acquiring licenses for 2015.
