—— Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Commander, Lieutenant General Eric Chimense has commended government for its unwavering support to the Zambia Air Force during the past 50 years.

Lt. Gen. Chimense said government has worked tirelessly to improve the living and working conditions of personnel in the air force.

Lt. Gen. Chimense said this in speech read for him by Air Officer, Air Defence Command Brigadier General Jabes Zulu during the officer’s annual ball last evening.

He cited the construction of Twin Palm housing units as one of the projects that has helped alleviate the shortage of accommodation previously experienced in the air force.

He said government has shown commitment to improving the general working conditions and re-equipping the air force to respond to the challenges of the 21st century.

And Lt. Gen. Chimense called upon the service men and women to remain loyal, non- partisan and disciplined.

He further reminded the officers to uphold the oath of allegiance as ZAF personnel.

Lt. Gen. Chimense has further encouraged all service men and women to undergo routine health check-ups other than the annual prescribed medicals.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Chimense said the annual ball is an opportunity for officers to reflect on the year’s achievement and challenges as well as plan for the forthcoming year.
