Chipata General Hospital blessed with six Christmas babies

Chipata, December 25,  ZANIS———————-Chipata General Hospital in
Chipata district in Eastern province has recorded six Christmas babies
born between 00:50 and 08:40 hours.

Out of the six babies, 4 are boys while 2 are girls.

 

Speaking after presenting presents to the babies, Eastern Province Assistant
Secretary Beenzu Chikuba said the festive season is time for people to
show love towards each other.

Ms. Chikuba said it is also time when people should reflect on doing
good things for others especially those in needy.

She explained that to this effect government is planning to make the
presentation of gifts to Christmas babies a big event by reaching out
to places were most mothers are under privileged.

Ms. Chikuba disclosed that government is also committed to improving
the lives of mothers and children especially in rural areas.

She noted that one way of fulfilling this commitment is by ensuring
that the presentation of gifts to Christmas babies is also done in
rural areas.

She added that the birth of a child on Christmas day is special
and should be celebrated because it is the day when Jesus Christ was
born.

Chipata General Hospital Superintendent Daniel Makawa thanked
government for celebrating Christmas with the hospital.

Dr. Makawa said the presentation of the gifts will go a long way in
uplifting the spirit of mothers.

And one of the mothers, Christine Banda thanked government for the gesture
adding that it will help her a lot.

The babies were presented with cloths, blankets, shawls, baby cots,
bathing tubs, nappy buckets, Chitenge wrappers, bathing and washing
soap and feeding utensils among others.
