——Police in Mbala are holding Sub Chief Tanzuka of the Mambwe people with three others for allowing to bury the body of a person suspected to have committed suicide before police could authorise to do so.

Police sources confirmed that Sub Chief Tanzuka, father, mother and a brother of the deceased were picked on Saturday to help with investigations in burying the person suspected to have committed suicide without waiting for police to inspect the body.

The sources said the traditional leader breached the law by authorising the parents to bury their son upon payment of a goat and a sheep to conduct burial rituals without police permission.

And today police have obtained a court order to go and exhume the body to allow for post-mortem in order to ascertain the cause of death.

On Friday, a 20-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Tanzuka’s area and was hurriedly buried raising suspicions that the deceased could have been murdered.
