–Heritage Party president, Godfrey Miyanda, has successfully filed in his nomination papers at Supreme Court to join  the Presidential race for January 20, 2015 elections.

Rtd Gen Miyanda, who was accompanied by his wife and party officials, filed his nomination papers before Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda beyond his stipulated time as some of his supporters arrived after 17:30hrs.

Speaking after filing his nomination papers, Gen Miyanda said he had enough supporters and attributed the delay for his supporters to arrive at the Supreme Court   to the rains and Church programmes.

He further said he had great passion to serve the people of Zambia but could not rate himself as an individual over his chances of winning next month’s Presidential elections as the people were the ones who could judge him.

He urged the public media to offer fair coverage to all the Presidential candidates contesting the 2015 Presidential elections.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Front (DF) has withdrawn from the Presidential race and will back the United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema.

DF Secretary General, Namakau Kaingu, who was not accompanied by any party official to the Supreme Court, told journalists that all the party members have indorsed the candidature of the UPND leader but refused to mention the name of the Party’s Presidential candidate or its Vice President.
