Clergyman counsels civil servants

Lusaka, December 19, ZANIS–A clergyman from Mansa district in Luapula province has commended government for reminding civil servants to stick to the code of ethics and not to side with any political party in their discharge of national duties.

Evangelist Kalwa Mambilima of the African Methodist Church said there has been a growing temptation among some civil servants to align themselves with certain political parties, a situation he said might erode public confidence in the civil service.

In an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Evangelist Mambilima reminded the civil servants to support government in implementing various policies in order to promote economic development in the country.

He has meanwhile called on the traditional leaders in the country not to align themselves with particular political parties during the run-up to the January 20, 2015 presidential election.

 

And Evangelist Mambilima has called on government to consider reviving the defunct National Agricultural Marketing Board (NAMBOARD) in order to address the challenges currently facing famers in the country.

 

The clergyman said reviving Namboard would assist in controlling the large scale production and marketing of maize which small scale farmers are facing now.

Evangelist Mambilima, who also served as Auditor in Namboard, noted that small scale farmers in some parts of the country were facing challenges of selling their maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) hence some unscrupulous buyers were exploiting them.
