ACC arrests typist for uttering false documents

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a typist at the Judiciary for allegedly uttering false documents and obtaining pecuniary advantage by false pretense.

Winnie Mponda, 34 of plot number 266/60A Kudu road in Kabulonga in Lusaka was yesterday arrested and charged with three (3) counts of uttering false documents contrary to section 347 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

In a statement to ZANIS in Lusaka today, ACC corporate affairs officer Jonathan Siame said Mponda was also charged with one (1) count of obtaining pecuniary advantage by false pretense contrary to section 309 (a) of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Mr. Siame explained that in the first count, on dates unknown but between January 1 and June 30, 2012 in Lusaka, Mponda fraudulently uttered a false document namely a grade 12 school certificate to the Judicial Service Commission purporting to show that the said document was genuine when in fact not.

In the second count, Mponda is said to have on dates unknown but between January 1 and June 30, 2012 in Lusaka fraudulently uttered a false document namely a shorthand typewriting certificate number BC5/985 to the Judicial Service Commission purporting to show that the said document was genuine when in fact not.

And in the third count, it is alleged that between January 1 and June 30, 2012 in Lusaka, Mponda fraudulently uttered a false document namely National Registration Card number 1376658 to the Judicial Service Commission purporting to show that the said document was genuine when in fact not.

Meanwhile in another count, it is alleged that on dates unknown but between January 1 and June 30, 2012 she dishonestly and with false pretense purported to have had a shorthand typewriting certificate in order to be employed as a typist at the Judiciary.

Mr. Saime said by virtue of her employment, Mponda received a total salary of K60, 133 and a settling in allowance of K4, 628.57 from government.

He said Mponda has since been released on bond and is due to appear in court soon.

  1. Wonders shall never end ooh. There’s another young lady at Chingola Margistrate Court who lacks basic spelling skills yet works in Registry Dept.
