Former Patriotic Front Secretary General and Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba has officially announced the formation of a new political party called Rainbow Party.
Speaking during the launch in Lusaka this morning, Mr. Kabimba says he was motivated to launch his party because of the happenings in the ruling Patriotic Front which he has described as a violent party.
Mr. Kabimba says there is no doubt that the people of Zambia are tired of seeing people with machetes who are a threat to the country’s democracy.
The former Justice Minister is hopeful that he will form government after the 2016 elections which his party will contest.
Mr Kabimba says once his party ascends to power there will be no more machetes in the country because he believes in peace and tranquility.
He adds that what is happening in Zambia were some political parties have totally failed to tame their cadres is unacceptable and is an indication of how disorganized such parties are.
Mr. Kabimba says the Rainbow Party is for all Zambians who feel left out in the country’s agenda.
He has pledged to respect traditional leaders and the church stating that they remain integral to the country’s social and economic development.
Mr Kabimba has also revealed that the slogan of his party is “United We Can” stating without unity, nothing can be achieved.
Mr. Kabimba has since pledged to serve the people of Zambia with humility and integrity if elected president.
Some notable new members of the Rainbow Party include; Former PF Lusaka Province Chairperson Geoffrey Chuumbwe, former Lusaka District Chairmen Robert Chikwelete and Goodson Banda, former Chingola Mayor MacDonald Mulongoti, and Anglican Priest Father Richard Luonde.
