——–The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has released funds to pay all farmers who sold their maize to the agency during the 2014 marketing season in Mwense district.

Mwense District Agricultural Coordinator (DACO), Musonda Ng’onga, confirmed the development to ZANIS in Mwense district.

Mr Ng’onga said over K9 million has been released and most farmers have already been paid while others are still getting their money from the bank.

He encouraged farmers in the area to purchase the farming inputs as soon as they get their money so that they can plant early.

In a related development, the DACO said the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) in the district is going on well.

He said so far, a total of 6,942 x 50 Kg and 6,118 x 50 Kg bags of compound D and Urea fertilizers respectively have been distributed to the farmers in the district.

Mr Ng’onga also said out of 3,500 x 10 Kg bags of maize seed allocated to the district, 3,378 have been given out to the farmers.
