Voters Education training programme progressing well in Mongu district

Mongu , December 13TH,  2014-ZANIS—  Western Province Electoral Commission Officer Ackson Habanji says the Voters Education training program is  progressing well in Mongu district of Western Province.

Mr. Habanji says the exercise which commenced in the district in readiness for the January 20th, 2015 Presidential By –Elections was on schedule.

He urged all Voters Education Facilitators (VEFS) to take the exercise serious.

He  noted that peace of the country would be threated if elections  process were poorly done. He for this reason requested each facilitator to take the matter seriously.

ZANIS reports that the Provincial Electoral Commission Officer was speaking at the official launch at the two days’ workshop held at the Council Chamber in Mongu on Thursday.

He said for democracy to prevail, the onus fail on the VEFS to educate voters on how best they would conduct themselves during elections to avoid tiffs that could plunge the country into civil disobedience.

Speaking earlier Mongu Town Clerk Officer Mwiya Mwiya also advised the all VEFS members to uphold high moral calibres during the voters’ education campaign.

Mr. Mwiya told the Facilitators that any immoral conducts would bring the name of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) into disrepute.

Zambia will hold Presidential Election on the 20th January 2015 following the death of the incumbent President Michael Chilufya Sata.
