HAVING lost out to Tanzanian housemate Idris for the $300, 000 prize money in the Big Brother Africa Hotshots competition, Macky II, who arrived back on Wednesday night, says he is going back to the studio immediately.
At a press briefing at Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel in Lusaka on Thursday, Macky II said he will be looking at doing international collaborations and that he is currently in talks with Nigerian hip-hop star D’banji.
He said although he is disappointed at not winning the ultimate Big Brother Africa prize, he believes that his participation in the competition has given him a larger platform to market himself and Zambian music internationally.
Almost tongue-in-cheek, he said he believes that he is capable of making $300, 000 within the shortest possible time.
“For me, Big Brother wasn’t just about money. It was some kind of cultural exchange, marketing myself and Zambian music. I believe Zambian music is bigger than Zambia [market], so Big Brother was a platform for me to sell Zambian music,” he said.
And Macky II says it is very unfortunate if Resa, the other Zambian Big Brother Africa Hotshots representative, said she did not really know who he was.
He says he always looked at her as a sister and was always there for her in the house, trying to advise her if he thought she was not playing the game well. He said, even during auditions, they were chatting with her, and on Sunday at the eviction show, she told him the public just misunderstood her statement.
“I find it hard to believe that she said that she doesn’t know me. Does anyone have the proof? I mean, she was like my sister in the house,” he said as the audience at the briefing told him she actually said it.
On his relationship with Sipe, Macky II said everyone knows what was transpiring between him and her in the Big Brother House.
“She is my G. Sipe has lived in Zambia before, she knows more about Zambia than I do about Malawi. I naturally found myself gravitating towards her,” he said as the audience asked him what G meant.
But he was always not going to go into those details.
