—-Participants at the just-ended Conflict Management training workshop in Kasama have commended the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for the exercise.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Rev Steward Kabaso said it was important that the ECZ carried out such trainings to make sure committees are equipped with skills to manage electoral conflicts.

In an interview with ZANIS in Kasama yesterday, Rev Kabaso called on political parties to make use of the committees that have been trained in conflict management in resolving differences.

He urged political parties to have confidence in the committee members as they have been trained and are qualified to manage conflicts.

Rev Kabaso also appealed to committee members to utilise skills they acquired in conflict management.

And workshop facilitator, Paul Simfukwe, urged conflict management committees to be good mediators and not take sides.

Mr Simfukwe told the participants that their work will help in coming up with peaceful, free and fair elections next month.

He further urged political parties to report conflicts to the Conflict Management Committees in their districts and not take the law in their hands.

The Electrical Commission of Zambia (ECZ) conducted a three-day-training program in conflict management for participants from Luwingu, Kasama, Chilubi and Mporokoso districts.
