Government says it has put in place measures to control the reported outbreak of army warms in Eastern province.

Agriculture and livestock Minister Wylbur Simuusa says the spraying of insecticides and the installation of army warm traps among others had been done in Chipata’s kasengengwa constituency to effectively control the situation.

Mr. Simuusa said so far no area had been infested with army warms aside from Chipata.

The minister said this in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today.

He stated that government was adequately prepared to prevent invasion of crops by pests during the farming season.

Mr. Simuusa said his ministry was ready to move in and control any possible outbreak of army warms in various parts of the country.

And the minister said armyworm traps had been installed in selected agriculture camps in Northern Province for early detection of the pests during this farming season.
