The United Party for National Development (UPND) has clarified that Henry Kanyanta Sosala the Chitimukulu designate never endorsed its leader Hakainde Hichilema when he paid a courtesy call on him.
UPND National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango says the impression created by ZNBC on its news earlier in the week that the Bemba Paramount Chief had endorsed Mr Hichilema was not correct.
Mrs Nalumango says the truth of the matter is that His Royal Highness welcomed Mr Hichilema and his entourage and had wonderful and private discussions.
She says this was when Mr Hichilema, as per tradition, paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness.
Mrs Nalumango says the UPND will not politicise traditional leadership like the PF has been doing since they came to power.
She states that the UPND believe that traditional leaders should be allowed to operate in a free environment as provided for in the constitution.
