Boy, 13, arrested for murder

—-Police in Mansa district have arrested a 13-year-old boy for murder.

The identified boy is alleged to have stoned his friend after they picked up a quarrel while they were playing.

Paul Mwewa, 14, of Lukakula village in Chief Kalasa Lukangaba’s area, died after he was hit in the chest with a stone by his friend of the same village.

Disclosing the matter to ZANIS in Mansa, Luapula Province Police Commissioner, Malcolm Mulenga, said the incident happened on Tuesday between 16:00 to 20:00 hours.

Mr. Mulenga said facts of the matter are that on the material day, Mwewa was playing with three of his friends when he picked a quarrel with the suspect.

He said it was then that the juvenile got upset, picked a stone and hit Mwewa on the chest.

Mr Mulenga said Mwewa later that day started complaining of severe chest pains and later died.

He said the juvenile has since been arrested and detained at Mansa Police Station while the body of the deceased has been deposited in Mansa General Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
