One perishes while two sustain serious injuries in road accident in Chinsali

One person has died on the spot while two others are nursing serious injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a tanker truck in Chinsali District in Muchinga Province.


Muchinga Deputy Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso, who confirmed the accident to ZANIS today, said the accident happened around 22 hours yesterday at Chewe area along the Great North Road.


Mr Kapeso identified the deceased as Hellen Namukoko 35, of Kitwe who died on the spot after she sustained head injuries.


He added that the driver of the unregistered Mitsubishi Challenger, Allex Singoyi sustained cuts on his face and body whiles another passenger Oscar Chanda of Lusaka sustained minor injuries.

The dual are admitted to Chinsali district Hospital where they are receiving treatment.


Mr Kapeso said the accident occurred when the driver of the Mitsubishi Challenger misjudged clearance and distance and was hit on the rear left passengers’ door where the deceased was seated.


Mr Kapeso said the unregistered Mitsubishi Challenger which was coming from the North part of Chinsali and  is extensively damaged while the tanker driver is on the run.
