Kasama targets 12 800 for HTC

Kasama, November 28, 2014,ZANIS—— Kasama District AIDS Taskforce has planned to test over 12 800 people for HIV and AIDS ahead of the World AIDS Day commemoration through a new programme called HIV Testing and Counseling (HTC).

DATF Chairperson Richard Mubanga disclosed this during a preparatory World Aids Day meeting held at the DATF office in Kasama today.

Mr. Mubanga said DATF in conjunction with other stakeholders intend to undertake the tests from 25th November  to  December 1.

He revealed that the team has lined up various activities to ensure people have access to HIV testing and other health services.

Mr. Mubanga said the programme will be conducted in all the health facilities with satellite activities in five areas adding that people must take advantage of the programme to access the health services.

The areas include Milima Prison, Muimbwe, Chanda Mukulu, TAZARA and Soft Katonga.

Mr Mubanga  called on the business community to come on board and support the event.

This year’s World AIDS DAY will be commemorated under the theme,” Zambia at 50, Towards Zero Stigma.”
