The Anti-Voter Apathy has disclosed that it will embark on a countrywide voter sensitisation exercise to prepare the electorate for the forthcoming presidential by-elections.

AVAP Executive Director Richwell Mulwani said his organisation will in the next few days partner other stakeholders to ensure that all registered voters are reached and sensitised on the importance of voting the presidential election slated for January 20, 2014.

The Civic leader told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that voters need to exercise their constitutional right by casting their votes to elect a new president.

Mr Mulwani said among the priorities of his organisation will be to ensure that the electorate is alerted on the dangers of corruption and the importance of ensuring that they replace their lost voters cards.

He urged young people to avoid being used to perpetrate violence in the country in the run up to the presidential polls.

And Mr Mulwani has also called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to kick start the replacement of voter cards ahead of the elections.

Mr Mulwani feared that many Zambians will be disenfranchised if the ECZ fails to conduct the exercise on time.
