Provincial disaster committee in Solwezi urged to apply themselves
Solwezi, November 19, 2014—North-western province Permanent Secretary, Amos Malupenga has implored the Provincial Disaster Management Committee (PDMC) members to fully apply their skills in any emergency.
Mr Malupenga said his office will not allow a situation where it spends huge sums of money in training people who end up sitting idle and fail to replicate their newly acquired skills and knowledge.
He has since directed the members currently undergoing training to be submitting reports on the roles they will be playing every time there is a disaster or crisis that goes beyond the abilities of the affected.
Mr Malupenga said this in a speech read for him by his deputy, Alfred Chingi during a four day simulation training sponsored by the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) and the World Food Programme.
He said the training is cardinal as it improves and enhances skills and effectively sharpens abilities in saving lives, assets and infrastructure.
