Lungu launches his candidature as president

Minister of Defence and Justice Edgar Lungu has submitted his nomination papers to stand as the PF Presidential Candidate in the January 2015 Presidential by-election.

 

Mr Lungu who was PF Secretary General filed his nomination papers to acting President Guy Scott at Cabinet Office.

 

And addressing a cheering sea of supporters at the National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC) in Lusaka, Mr Lungu thanked the PF party members and the general citizen across the country for the support and encouragement to serve Zambia at the highest level.

 

Mr Lungu was accompanied to NASDEC grounds by some Cabinet Ministers and PF Members of Parliament among them Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkandu Luo, Tourism Minister Jean Kapata, and Eastern Province Minister Malozo Sichone.

 

He said he was humbled by the confidence and support that has been shown to him and pledged not to betray the confidence and trust people have shown in him.

 

Mr Lungu pledged to continue and complete late President Michael Sata’s legacy and vision of transforming and developing the country.

 

He pledged to uphold the PF manifesto and complete the PF vision as enshrined in the party manifesto for the period 2011 – 2016.

 

Mr Lungu assured Zambians that he will work towards uplifting their welfare by seeking and trusting in God’s counsel.
