Senior Chief Ishindi of the Lunda speaking people of Zambezi district installed Isaac Kaping’a as Chief Ishima of the people of Kasesi yesterday.

This was after Mr. Kaping’a worn the high court case he was sued for to bar him from becoming a sub chief by a family member named Kaumba Kaluluma.

Speaking in a royal counsel shortly before the installation, Senior Chief Ishindi told Mr. Kaping’a to uphold peace and unity in his chiefdom.

Senior Chief Ishindi noted that there were too many land wrangles in Kasesi area a situation he said only the chief can resolve.

The Senior Chief explained that there were unscrupulous people who were acquiring traditional land and have constructed houses in the said area.

And Zambezi District Commissioner Catherine Mukuma expressed happiness with the installation of Mr. Kaping’a as Chief Ishima.

Ms Mukuma said that royal establishments should work closely with government in the development of the nation.

Other sub Chiefs who were present at the installation ceremony are Chief Mpidi, Chief Chizozu, Chief Nyabaza and Chief Chisamba.

In August this year, Senior Chief Ishindi postponed the installation of Isaac Kaping’a as Chief Ishima of the Lunda people of Kasesi.

This followed a petition filed in the high court by aspiring family members of the Kaluluma family.

Mr. Kaluluma challenged the ascendance of Mr Kaping’a to the throne of Chief Ishima.

But when the village headmen conducted the polls that time, Mr Kaping’a scooped the seat with 40 votes while his challenger, Mr Kaluluma got four votes.
