Zanaco 1 Power 0

ZANACO yesterday beat Power Dynamos to take over leadership of the MTN-FAZ Premier League and ensure that the 2014 winner is decided on the final day of the season.

But it was a sad day for Indeni and Konkola Mine Police as they were relegated to FAZ-Division One league after losing and drawing their respectively Week 29 league matches played yesterday.

The bankers moved to 57 points, one better than second placed Zesco United who can reclaim top slot with a win over troubled Nakambala Leopards today, while Power’s title challenge may as well be over as the Kitwe side remain stuck on 54 points and only a continental place remain a realistic target for the Tennant Chilumba side.

Saulani Phiri scored the only important goal for Zanaco in the 35th minute after smacking a thunderbolt outside the box past Power goalkeeper Joshua Titima with a powerful left foot after his initial shot was blocked before scoring from the resultant rebound.

Alex Ng’onga was a menace in the Zanaco box but the striker failed to convert the chances into goals and had a penalty appeal thrown out by referee Wisdom Chewe after he was fouled inside the box.

 Nkana 0 Arrows 2

Red Arrows beat out-going champions Nkana to boost their chances of staying in the elite league, reports KALUMIANA KALUMIANA from Nkana Stadium.

Paul Katema gave Arrows the lead after heading in the ball from close range in the 47nd minute before Francis Kombe made sure of the result in the 73rd minute to give the airmen maximum points.

 Napsa 1 Assembly 1

At Woodlands Stadium, Napsa Stars and National Assembly played to a 1-all draw in-front of an empty stadium.

Assembly, who moved to 37 points, took the lead through Emmanuel Sikazwe in the 32nd minute before Brian Lubaba equalised for Napsa, on 46 points, in the 60th minute.

 Indeni 0 Rangers 1

Nchanga Rangers sent Indeni back to their second tier of Zambian football thanks to an Aubrey Chamulwanda goal in the second half. That victory lifted Rangers up to 37 points while Indeni remained stuck on 27 points.

 Roan 1 Mine Police 1

In Luanshya, Mine Police made a bright start to the match in their bid to beat relegation with Ronald Chibwe scoring in 17th minute but Roan, already relegated, hit back within two minute through Lyson Sikaonga.

Roan remain bottom on 18 points while Mine Police are on 29 points but can only get to 32 points currently occupied by Green Buffaloes, who take on Kabwe Warriors today.

 Blades 0 Eagles 0

It finished goalless at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe between Konkola Blades and Green Eagles.

Blades now have 36 points while Eagles are just a point above their hosts.
