Sata praised for improving teachers conditions

Solwezi, November 8, 2014, ZANIS–Teachers in Solwezi district say they remain indebted to the late President Michael Sata for fulfilling his promise to improve their salaries and working conditions for them.

The teachers said in a statement to ZANIS in Solwezi today that President Sata laboured to ensure teachers’ salaries were increased with a reasonable margin.

Zambia National Union of Teachers district chairperson Setty Maseka said such a gesture had not been done before.

Mr Maseka said teachers in the district were mourning with the rest of the nation on the untimely death of President Sata.

Mr Maseka said teachers also wished the first family God’s comforting hand during the mourning period.

President Sata died in London on October 28 and will be buried on Tuesday November 11 at the Presidential burial site at Embassy Park in Lusaka.
