Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Edgar Lungu has assured the nation and the international community that the ruling party is determined to ensure there is stability, peace and tranquility during the mourning period and beyond.

And Mr. Lungu has assured the nation of a free, fair and transparent election for the PF presidential candidate and during the presidential by-election.

In a statement made available to QFM News today, Mr. Lungu says the accession of Dr. Guy Scott as Acting Republican President is a good example of Zambia’s tradition of constitution process.

Mr. Lungu says Zambia’s governance system is strong and has continuously demonstrated smooth transitions to new parties and presidents throughout its history.

He says during the 90 day transition period, the PF will continue to safeguard the friendly environment for business, tourism, and peaceful transition of power within the party and leading to presidential election.

Mr. Lungu states that while there might be some differences of opinion on certain subjects in the ruling party, he is confident that the party will rise above such differences.

The PF Secretary General has since urged Zambians to continue showing respect during the period of national mourning considering that Zambia is a peaceful and friendly country.
