Musiyamo canal clearing commences
Nalolo, Nov 6, 2014, ZANIS…….. Clearing of Musiyamo Canal in Lyondo area of Nalolo district has commenced.
Nalolo District Commissioner Mundia Samwene has commended the people of Lyondo village for the good works and has encouraged them to continue cooperating as they work.
Mr Smwene said once cleared, the canal would produce a lot of positive results that everyone in the area will benefit from.
Mr. Samwene pointed out that a lot of farming activities will be initiated when the canals are clean, saying this will also reduce the high levels of poverty in the area.
He also encouraged the residents of Lyondo to be clearing the canals from time to time adding that climate change comes with a lot of effects hence people should learn to adapt to the new weather patterns.
The District Commissioner was speaking when he inspected the works on Musiyamo canal accompanied by Nalolo District Administrative Officer (DAO) Kenny Mungendenge and District Agriculture Coordinating Officer (DACO) Peter Kamusaki.
Musiyamo Canal is one of the canals that have been approved to be cleared under the Climate Resilience Progamme in Nalolo district.
