Chikankata residents mourn Sata at Chieftainess Mwenda’s palace

Hundreds of people in Chikankata District yesterday gathered at Chieftainess Mwenda’s Palace to mourn and celebrate the life of the late President Michael Sata.

 

Chieftainess Mwenda accorded an opportunity to people in her chiefdom to mourn the President since not everyone is able to go to Lusaka to pay their last respects.

Speaking at the event, the Chieftainess thanked the people for coming in huge numbers and said their coming showed just how much they loved the president.

 

She described the late President as someone who had a heart for every Zambian regardless of their social status in society.

 

The traditional leader said the president has done a lot for the people in her chiefdom especially declaring Chikankata a district and employing government workers to serve people there.

 

Chieftainess Mwenda explained that Chikankata has developed a lot ever since the late President assumed office.

 

She said the President facilitated in developing Chikankata Nursing School and the upgrading of the Biomedical College Laboratory.

 

Meanwhile, Acting District Commissioner Sekani Tembo said the President was a legend and Zambia has lost a gallant man.

 

He said the president dedicated his entire life to the service of mother Zambia and as such with his passing on everyone in Zambia is devastated.
